Changelog

Every release, newest first.

2.2.5

2026-10-04

Fixed

  • Fixed hidden menu bar icons staying visible after restarting your Mac, with a "Could not restore the saved group" warning that refreshing did not clear. Your Hidden and Visible groups are now kept across restarts.
  • Fixed hidden menu bar icons sometimes reappearing for about a second at launch before being hidden again.

2.2.4

2026-10-04

Improved

  • When using a charging target below 80% or Sailing, the battery bar now shows a raw capacity estimate alongside the macOS battery percentage when they differ. An explanation button helps clarify why the battery may stop at a different displayed percentage.

Fixed

  • Fixed an issue that could prevent the background component from being registered again after its system records were cleared, leaving charging controls unavailable even after clicking Retry.

2.2.3

2026-09-25

Fixed

  • The background helper now exits after quitting Liwu once charging cleanup is confirmed and Keep Awake has been released. It stays available while cleanup is unresolved or a new Liwu session is using it.
  • Homebrew uninstall now asks Liwu to release charging control and remove its background registration before deleting the app. Removal stops if cleanup fails.

Note

  • Homebrew upgrades and reinstalls also perform this cleanup. If you use Launch at login, enable it again in Liwu afterward.

2.2.2

2026-09-25

Improved

  • Unavailable controls now explain why they cannot be used. Persistent warnings share a clearer layout, and repeated low-target warnings are combined.
  • Charging Retry stays visible with a loading indicator until the result is confirmed, then clears on success or becomes available again after failure.
  • Keep Awake explains low-battery protection before activation and why a session stopped. Historical stop notices can be dismissed.
  • Calibration shows specific start requirements and explains the brief reconnection window when power is unplugged.

Fixed

  • Fixed incorrect preset explanations when Sailing is enabled but charging control is not ready.
  • Fixed a main-window layout issue caused by long warning messages.
  • Opening the menu-bar popover no longer automatically focuses the charging-limit field.

2.2.1

2026-09-24

Fixed

  • Fixed an issue that could stop calibration during discharge when macOS battery-capacity readings updated more slowly than live battery readings. Valid samples are no longer rejected solely because the two sources update at different times. Missing-data and low-battery safety checks remain in place.

2.2.0

2026-09-24

New

  • Added Sailing for Pro: keep your charging limit as the upper endpoint and choose a drop of 5–20 percentage points before recharging. The lower endpoint stays at 20% or above. Sailing requires supported firmware controls, even with a limit of 80% or higher.
  • The battery bar now shows the Sailing recharge threshold alongside your limit, with both markers moving together as you adjust the target.

Improved

  • Low charging targets, calibration, and Sailing check firmware support before becoming available. Messages explain which feature is unavailable, and unsupported calibration actions are disabled in the schedule editor.
  • Schedule targets can now be entered directly as numbers. Plans are checked against the active Sailing range before saving and again before running.
  • Charging controls show clearer pending, failed, and unknown results, and restore the current value when an edit cannot be accepted.

Fixed

  • Saved menu bar groups now retry restoration during startup without requiring you to open the Menu Bar tab. Quitting cancels pending restoration and reveals the icons. Group restoration still depends on the original menu items remaining available; restarting other apps or macOS can require regrouping.

2.1.2

2026-09-23

Fixed

  • Fixed a timing issue when replacing the background component after an update. Liwu now waits for the previous component to finish stopping before registering its replacement, preventing charging controls from remaining unavailable until the app is restarted.

2.0.0

2026-09-22

Liwu 2 brings everyday Mac tools together, with charging targets and Keep Awake at its core. This version requires macOS 26.7 or later on an Apple Silicon MacBook.

  • Set the macOS charging target from 80% to 100%, and save named presets for quick access. macOS manages charging, discharge, and its own battery calibration.
  • Use Top Up to temporarily request 100%. Your regular target remains editable and returns when you end Top Up, unplug, or quit Liwu.
  • Schedule charging targets with independent values, repeat rules, optional catch-up, and skip-next controls.
  • See pending changes, confirmed targets, and retry options directly in the Limit control. The battery bar continues to show the actual battery level.
  • Keep Awake remains available, including timers, low-battery cutoff, and Pro support for keeping the lid closed.
  • Enabling charging management explains and turns off Optimized Battery Charging once. If you turn it back on in macOS, Liwu respects that choice and offers a button to turn it off again.
  • Existing Liwu 1 Pro purchases also unlock Liwu 2 Pro.

Liwu 2 does not include limits below 80%, custom heat-based charging pauses, charge-related sleep rules, sailing or range mode, active discharge, or automatic calibration. Liwu 1 remains available for macOS versions before 26.7 and will receive no further feature updates.

Quitting Liwu ends Top Up and requests your latest regular target. It does not restore the charging settings from before you opened the app. Scheduled changes require Liwu to be running; missed tasks follow your catch-up setting.

1.0.8

2026-08-31

Fixed

  • Charging limits work again on macOS 26.6 after Apple changed the battery control interface
  • Liwu now detects when macOS Charge Limit stops charging below Liwu's target and explains how to avoid conflicting charge controllers

Improved

  • Charge Control now shows setup guidance to set macOS Charge Limit to 100% and turn off Optimized Battery Charging

1.0.7

2026-08-08

Fixed

  • Sleep is no longer left disabled if Liwu is force-quit while Keep Awake is on — a closed-lid Mac could otherwise stay awake and drain the battery
  • Heat protection no longer resumes charging after a single bad temperature reading
  • Calibration now stops and shows the reason when the adapter is unplugged or a step cannot finish, instead of staying stuck
  • Settings no longer revert when you change several of them in quick succession
  • Charge controls stay disabled until the background component reports its current state, so an early click can no longer reset settings to their defaults
  • Scheduled tasks sync reliably when the background component takes a while to start, and no longer run twice after a failed write
  • Skipping the next scheduled run now reports a failure instead of appearing to succeed when its timing has already changed
  • Narrowing the range no longer starts an unnecessary charge cycle
  • A charge limit typed in the menu bar popover is no longer lost when the popover closes
  • Battery health no longer reports an invalid 0% maximum capacity
  • The macOS Optimized Battery Charging conflict warning now appears for limits just above 80%
  • Monthly schedules use the same day of the month on every calendar setting
  • The main window now opens reliably after activating from the website
  • Fixed a rare case where an activated license could be lost while upgrading from an early version

1.0.6

2026-07-29

New

  • Let the display sleep while Keep Awake continues local agents, builds, tests, renders, and downloads
  • See clear warnings when system, display, or lid-closed sleep control cannot be applied

Improved

  • Report the lid scope that actually took effect when closed-lid control fails
