Compatibility
Liwu 2 requires macOS 26.7 or later on an Apple Silicon MacBook. Liwu 1 is frozen for macOS 14 through versions before 26.7.
Product specification for Liwu 2.2.5 updated September 24, 2026
Supported configuration
- Apple Silicon MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.
- macOS 26.7+
- Charging targets require a supported macOS native charge-limit interface.
- Use one charging-management app at a time.
macOS charging controls
Without Sailing, targets from 80% to 100% use the macOS native charge-limit interface. Liwu offers 20–79% targets only after a firmware capability check passes. Low targets, calibration, and Sailing all require verified firmware support; private system interfaces may change with macOS updates.
Low targets use raw battery capacity and may actively discharge while plugged in. The percentage shown by macOS can differ. A confirmed setting does not promise an immediate charge-state change.
Sailing (Pro) keeps your regular Limit as the upper endpoint and lets you choose a 5–20 percentage-point drop before recharging; the lower endpoint must stay at or above 20%. For example, an 80% limit with a 10-point drop requests a 70–80% firmware interval. It uses raw battery capacity, so displayed percentages may differ. Top Up and the first four calibration steps temporarily suspend Sailing; the regular interval returns afterward. Target plans must fit the interval; incompatible plans are skipped with a reason.
Keep Optimized Battery Charging off while Liwu manages charging. Liwu turns it off once at first startup; later changes in System Settings are respected and shown as a warning.
Calibration requires available low-target control, connected power, and OBC off. It runs through 100% → 10% → 100% → a one-hour hold → the latest regular target. Closing the window does not stop the cycle.
Menu bar organization needs Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions. Group membership can be restored while the same menu-item process session exists; system restarts or recreated item windows can invalidate those identities. Notch space and fixed system controls remain macOS constraints.
Custom heat protection and charging sleep rules are not included in this version. Keep Awake is a separate tool.
Runtime boundaries
| Close a window | Liwu stays in the menu bar. Plans and any active calibration continue. |
|---|---|
| Sleep | The last applied target remains subject to macOS and firmware behavior. Calibration does not count sleeping time as active observation; missed plans follow catch-up settings on wake. |
| Choose Quit | Liwu sends a release request and exits promptly. The helper attempts to remove Liwu-owned firmware limits and request the native 100% target. This is not a guarantee of immediate charging. |
| Reopen Liwu | Liwu checks current hardware state and any incomplete transitions before writing. Calibration interrupted by app or helper termination does not resume automatically. |
| Another charging app | Quit it before using Liwu charging management to avoid conflicting target changes. |
Support boundary
If firmware support is unavailable or cannot be confirmed, new low targets, calibration (manual or scheduled), and Sailing are unavailable. With Sailing off, new targets remain selectable from 80–100%. Liwu explains the affected feature and does not silently change saved targets. An unsupported native target interface disables charging management; independent tools remain available where supported. Intel and desktop Macs are outside the supported hardware scope.
